Do you have Hypertension that is not adequately controlled and either established Cardiovascular Disease, or are at high risk for Cardiovascular Disease?
The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether zilebesiran versus placebo reduces the risk of cardiovascular (CV) death, nonfatal myocardial infarction (MI), nonfatal stroke, or heart failure (HF) events.
Would you like to take part? Would you like a friend or family member to take part?
As a volunteer in a research study, you will receive personal study-related medical care from the study doctor and regular follow up on your health to monitor the effectiveness of the care you will receive. The results of this research will be used to find out if the experimental medication being studied will be of benefit to others with hypertension at risk of cardiovascular events or not. Study volunteers are an important part of moving medical care forward.
You may qualify to participate in this study if you:
- Are 18 years or older for patients who have established cardiovascular disease (CVD), OR
- Are 55 years or older with high risk for CVD
- Have established CVD (defined as coronary, cerebrovascular, or peripheral artery disease) or high risk for CVD
- Have been treated for hypertension on stable therapy with at least 2 standard of care antihypertensive medications, one of which must be a thiazide, thiazide-like, or loop diuretic
You may not qualify to participate in this study if you:
- Have a known history of secondary hypertension
- Have symptomatic orthostatic hypotension
- Have alanine aminotransferase (ALT) or aspartate aminotransferase (AST) >3×upper limit of normal (ULN)
- Have total serum bilirubin >1.5×ULN at screening
- Have an international normalized ratio (INR) >1.5 at screening
- Have serum potassium >4.8 mEq/L at screening
- Have an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) <30 mL/min/1.73m^2
There are other eligibility requirements that the study doctor will review. Only the study doctor can finally determine whether you are eligible to participate in the study or not.
Participants who qualify for this study will receive a study-related health examination at no cost, as well as possible compensation for time and travel.
